Flex and Flash development

From Rich Internet Applications to Desktop widgets I can offer a full service from initial consultation and planning through to design, layout, build and deployment. My experience as a designer as well as my in-depth knowledge of Actionscript, MXML and FXG mean I'm perfectly placed to manage a project from start to finish.

App development

I have built an iPhone app which is currently available on the app store here. I have also helped with the production of iOS titles for a company called Cloud and Compass.

I'm currently working on other iOS app titles for myself and am studying advanced Objective C programming techniques and Games development frameworks like Cocos2D and Unity3D.

Mobile Web development

I am currently studying Mobile Web frameworks like JQTouch and Sencha Touch as a means to build sites optimised for modern Mobile browsers. I am also researching PhoneGap as a technology that enables Web frameworks to be wrapped up into native apps so they can utilise device specific features and be deployed to multiple channels like iOS, Android, Windows 7 to name but a few. This is a very exciting new technology that will massively optimise the process of development.

Creative Services

As well as being able to design and produce the assets required to make your project look really slick I also have an eye for animation so you can be sure that this is handled appropriately ... no Flash intros here I'm afraid. I have created Motion graphics in the past and can advise on an appropriate use of video in your project. You'll be amazed how many man hours I've saved producing something in After-Effects that had been originally planned for Flash.

I can also offer more traditional animation services as well as cartoon character illustration and games design. I have worked on brand design in the past and have an appreciation of the fine art of typography and vector illustration.

Consultancy Services

With nearly 20 years in the industry I am experienced enough to know a thing or two about Interactive Media. I've seen it called a few things over the years, New Media, Rich Media etc. but the problems and challenges are always the same. I offer these insights through a consultancy service that is as bespoke and rewarding as it is value for money. I can get involved with your project at all levels and can offer feasibility studies, hands-on design & development, planning and strategy.

User Experience

I offer wireframing and prototyping services and this is something I usually insist upon when I take on large projects because it is such an important step in the process. Paper prototyping is a great way to quickly plan a project, and is usually followed by a round of detailed wireframes. Only then do I build an interactive prototype that can be quickly mocked up in Keynote for speed (yes, I was surprised too, but it works).

Training

I've trained a few people over the years and I know that it is not something that anyone can do as long as they have the knowledge to share. It takes a particular type of person to be a good trainer. You need to be patient and a very good listener but above all you need to be likeable.

I offer a bespoke training service that is ideal for small teams and individuals who need the training but don't want to spend the thousands and thousands of pounds that larger organisations charge. I don't offer a cushy weekend away with 100 strangers. I don't stand there reciting from a text book or wander around pondering at people as they struggle to keep up with their neighbours who 'knew it all anyway'.

I do offer a one-to-one bespoke training experience in your own environment with your own tools and if you wish the coursework can be tailored to your own day-to-day project work.

My training experience promises to increase productivity by making the most of your staffs potential, boosting their efficiency but most importantly it will invigorate their attitude to the work they are doing for you. You wont need to worry about your staff leaving straight after their training because they think they'll get a more interesting job; we strive to make the work they do on a daily basis more fulfilling.
