Work

Augmented ibiza 2011

After months of work myself and the team at The Cloud and Compass have finally launched version 2.0 of the Augmented Ibiza app. This is a major release of this much loved guide to the party Island and includes Facebook posting and check-in functionality. As well as wireframing, prototyping and user experience work I also got my hands dirty with some iOS development. We are all very proud of the result ... but there's even more to come!

Cloud and Compass

I've been working as a consultant for a Digital Agency in London who specialise in location and real world interaction. They have built some amazing products for Mobile including iPhone apps for their Augmented Ibiza brand and an app celebrating Arthurs' Day in Ireland. I've been busy wireframing and helping develop their digital strategy in their fantastic studio that looks like a bar ... bonus!

Sony Creatology

Lyraspace recently helped with the styling and Flex development on an amazing Sony site for their Creatology brand. The site incorporated realistic physics effects in the menu structure to give it an organic, fluid quality. Be sure to get in touch with Simon Hamilton at Seven6Eight who was the brains behind the slick physics engine used in this site.

rbidr

RBIDR are an ecommerce platform providing powerful yield management and price optimization capabilities for the buying and selling of time. For assets that can be sold in terms of time, rbidr is a highly efficient direct sales platform. I've been busy helping RBIDR with User Experience, wireframing, prototyping and Flex development over the last couple of years. Timezones have been conquered and fantastic team dynamics has resulted in some ground breaking UI design and technical achievement. More on this very soon!

Amway Video Player

This video player widget has many roles on the Amway site. It can be customised so it provides various functions while part of their Content Management System like setting the ratio of the video, adjusting the captioning and updating the meta data associated with the asset currently playing. The player was built in Flex using the Adobe Open Source Media Framework when it was still in its infancy. The Video player controls and UI were adjusted using FXG skins developed in Catalyst while this technology was still in Beta so the development process was cutting-edge for its time.

Gucci

Critical Mass asked me to help them build a Microsite engine for Gucci to showcase their range of fragrances. I built them a framework using Flex that allowed them to fully customise the look and feel with skins and themes.

The site is live here.

Balance

I helped build a site for RedBox Digital for a product called Balance. The site was to be deployed on company intranets to help employees monitor their alcohol intake. The site was never public facing but there's an early build of the site here.

Grey Advertising

Grey Advertising wanted a short piece of animation for their Cannes showcase. I did some compositing work using After Effects and was really pleased with the results. See what you think. View it here.

Code

Code are a technology company in London who build solid software infrastructures. While working with them I helped them develop a Flash IDE panel in Flex which was authored in AS3 and MXML and utilised the power of JSFL to read the Flash IDE DOM. This research will eventually be the core of a banner development engine to be used by developers creating banner templates that can be manipulated dynamically. This was an exciting piece of work that required research into open-source technologies like SWFMill and MTASC as a method to directly manipulate SWF files to change their content at the core of the file without compromising on filesize. I also had the opportunity to do some branding work for the project that unfortunately never materialised but I was proud of the suite of logos I created anyway.

ThinkBox.tv

Weapon 7 asked me to help them develop an interactive TV emulator in Flash. It needed to be built as a flexible XML-driven engine that would allow their Flash designer to easily update the campaigns they wanted to showcase without having to get their hands dirty with Actionscript. Philips Floorcare

This flash site was built for Tribal DDB for their client Philips and was built to be an up-dateable Flash microsite that global markets could customise with their own products and in their own language.

Romilly Photography

This Microsite combines an XML based CMS and an easily skinnable interface via CSS. The result is a slick photography portfolio site that takes advantage of Flash's Stage class to completely take over the browser window for maximum effect.

American Express - Rolling Stones Microsite

American Express commissioned this Microsite to coincide with their promotion of the massive Rolling Stones world tour in 2007. The site was developed in Actionscript, utilising XML and CSS to create multiple instances of the site.

American Express - Global Gateway

Using Actionscript, XML and CSS this Flash Microsite was deployed as an immersive, rich, global portal for all of the American Express worldwide services.

American Express - Winback microsite

American Express wanted a quirky interactive piece of marketing to win back old customers. All the animation in this piece is dynamically generated using the Fuse animation engine and XML.

BBC - How to be a gardener website

Designed the site UI and built the interactive modules on this BAFTA award winning website for the BBC's Factual & Learning department. Highly enjoyable project that took around 6 months. You can view the majority of the Flash work within the interactive section. Incidentally I also illustrated & animated the assets. A testimony to the appeal of the site is that it is still live nearly 10 years after launch.

CBBC - Dick 'n' Dom 'Go wild' presents Skid Squirrel

This platform game was created from scratch and included a platform game level editor. I also did the illustration & animation. This game was actually built nearly 10 years ago but has recently been repurposed by the BBC for the Dick 'n' Dom Go Wild site.

RAF4U - Drop Zone

This game was created collaboratively with some other developers and we each did one of the main games. The Helicopter mission was the one I built and all the games are highly addictive and great fun. I also created the branding and the UI elements.

Royal Institute - Bio Bob's Biodiversity game

This fun little game was developed by myself and beautifully illustrated by a very talented guy called Matt Wells.

Royal Institute - Planet X

This was just one of many educational, interactive pieces for the Royal Institutes Inside Out site.
